Bladnoch is a village in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway or the traditional county of Wigtownshire . It is located about 1.5 km southwest of Wigtown on the Machars peninsula . By Bladnoch which flows Bladnoch , two kilometers east into the Luce Bay opens.
history
In 1533, the Scottish King Jacob V awarded the 600 lands of Baldoon to the southwest of today's Bladnoch to an Archibald Dunbar . Baldoon Castle was probably built there in the early 17th century . The castle was later used by the Scottish writer Walter Scott as a template for the castle in his novel The Bride of Lammermoor .
In 1817, the Bladnoch whiskey distillery was opened on the western edge of the village . It is still active today.

Bladnoch is located directly on the A714 coming from Girvan . It leads via Wigtown to cross the nationally important A75 ( Stranraer - Gretna Green ) before Newton Stewart . In the south it joins the A746 , which connects the southern part of the peninsula to beyond Whithorn .
