At the junction of the A74 (M) motorway at junction 22 in the M6 motorway near the border between England and Scotland at Gretna, the road branches off the motorway leading to Glasgow to the west and leads north past Annan on the Solway Firth . In its further course it moves away from the coast, bypasses Dumfries on a bypass in the north and allows the A76 road to branch off to the north-north-west. It turns west and passes Crocketford , where the A712 road branches off, which the A75 meets again at Newton Stewart . It turns to the southwest, bypasses Castle Douglas and crosses the River Dee at Bridge of Dee , which the A711 road to Kirkcudbright follows. The A75 bypasses Glengap Forest south , crosses the Water of Fleet near its mouth in Fleet Bay, and then follows the coast to Creetown at the mouth of the Cree . He follows this upstream, taking the A712 again and crossing the river at Newton Stewart, where he crosses the A714 road . The further course of the road leads to the southwest and approaches the coast again at Glenluce (with the ruins of Glenluce Monastery ) on Luce Bay . She crosses the River Water of Luce . It continues through the depression east of the Rhins of Galloway peninsula and ends in Stranraer on the A77 road , on which the two ferry terminals to Northern Ireland are around 10 & km further north .
