Bernd Rützel (born October 2, 1968 in Gemünden am Main ) is a German politician and member of the German Bundestag ( Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD)).

Life

After secondary school , Rützel completed vocational training as a machine fitter at the Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1983 to 1987 and then trained as a foreman in the middle technical civil service. He was released as a youth and trainee representative and works council. In 1998 he completed a degree in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. He was promoted to higher technical civil service and held various technical management positions at Deutsche Bahn. Rützel is a senior technical councilor a. D. at Deutsche Bahn AG.

He joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1992.

From 1990 to 1998 he was a member of the Rieneck / Schaippach parish council. From 1983 to 1996 he was involved in youth work at the railway and transport union in the DGB, from 1993 to 1996 as chairman of the working group for employee issues, from 1994 to 1996 as deputy works council chairman of DB Cargo , from 2011 to 2020 chairman of the indoor swimming pool association in Gemünden am Main e. V. and since 2017 chairman of the Friends of the Friedrich-List-Gymnasium Gemünden. Since 2018 he has been deputy chairman of the Caritas St. Franziskus welfare station in Gemünden.

He has been a member of the city council in Gemünden am Main since 2008 and of the Main-Spessart district council since 2014. In the 2013 federal elections , he ran for the Main-Spessart constituency and entered the 18th German Bundestag via the state list . In the 2017 federal election , he moved back into the 19th German Bundestag via the state list in the Main-Spessart constituency . He is a full member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs and the Committee on Tourism and a deputy member of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure . He was also a deputy member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy . He chairs the German-Canadian parliamentary group .

Bernd Rützel is of Roman Catholic denomination, is married and has two children.
