Bernd Schindler (born December 28, 1961 in Karlsruhe) is a former German soccer player .

Career

In his youth, Bernd Schindler played for Karlsruher SC and came to the Stuttgart Kickers in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1983 via FC 08 Walldorf (Verbandsliga Nordbaden) . Soon he was able to fight for a regular place there. With his club, he reached the DFB Cup final in 1987 (1: 3 against Hamburger SV ; coach of the Stuttgarter Kickers: Dieter Renner ) and rose to the Bundesliga in 1988 under coach Manfred Krafft . There they rose again in the first year, but only because of the poorer goal difference. In 1989 Schindler signed a contract with Bundesliga club SV Waldhof Mannheim . Although he was able to show the most playing minutes in his team, he was also relegated with SV Waldhof. Schindler stayed in the second division with SVW for two more years before moving to city rivals VfR in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. In 1994 they qualified for the newly introduced third-class regional league. The coaching career of Bernd Schindler began in 1996 when he became a player-coach at SC Urbach. From 1997 to 1999 he was active again as a player and played two seasons with SV Bonlanden in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. After that, his higher-class playing career ended and Schindler coached SV Fellbach from 1999 to 2001. There he trained, among other things, today's Bundesliga professional Oliver Barth . As a temporary measure, Schindler then made a comeback as a player with the Kreisliga team Sportfreunde Stuttgart together with his former teammate at the Stuttgarter Kickers and at SV Bonlanden, Ralf Vollmer . This was expanded in 2005 through a commitment to the then national league club SG Vöhringen, where Schindler played for two years and still regularly participates in indoor tournaments to this day.
