Bernd Schmid (* 1946 ) is a German economist, educational scientist and psychologist . He is considered the founder of systemic transaction analysis (TA).

Life

Schmid did pioneering work in the field of systemic therapy and systemic counseling through the development of systemic control concepts and the integration of many previously separate approaches, for example through connections between depth psychology and organizational development .

Schmid is the founder and head of the "Institute for Systemic Consulting" (isb-GmbH) in Wiesloch. The institute deals with the training of responsible persons in the organizational field as well as with learning culture in organizations and systemic didactics. Schmid developed various concepts for the image of man, for communication and encounters combined with economic issues, to create a corporate culture concept.

Furthermore, Schmid is a trainer for the international TA society and chaired the advanced training and examination committee in the German TA society. Under his leadership, a new form of examination was developed that was introduced across Europe.

Schmid is also a co-founder and board member of the German Federal Association of Coaching (DBVC) and a representative of systemic coaching as well as the connection to personnel, organizational and cultural development. He represents coaching as a perspective instead of exclusively as a one-to-one conversation, which means that the qualities of coaching are reflected and their effect in many processes and professional roles. He was the founder and chairman of the “Society for Further Education and Supervision” (GWS). He maintained cooperation with universities in Heidelberg and Mannheim, was involved in university didactics and was a member of the university council of the Heidelberg University of Education . In 2012, he founded the Schmid Foundation, which helps probono public welfare-oriented organizations to make use of the know-how of isb GmbH and its professional network. He also founded the International Network for Organization Development and Coaching INOC, which promotes integration and joint development of schools.
