Bernd Walz (born October 15, 1957 in Aschbach , Hessen ) is a former German soccer player and soccer coach . Walz played in the professional area for Kickers Offenbach and VfR Bürstadt in the 2nd Bundesliga . For Kickers Offenbach he played as a defender in 162 games in the 2nd Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the Bundesliga relegation. After his active career, he was mainly in the amateur field, because of ties to his homeland, as a coach. As a trainer with the A license, Walz has the second highest license level in the DFB .

Player career

Walz began playing football in his early youth in his native Aschbach with the local TSV Aschbach. Then the stopper moved to VFR Bürstadt in the youth, where he became German amateur champion in 1974/75. Walz played 14 times for the youth national teams of Germany. His achievements brought Walz, who was considered a dangerous defender at the time, to Kickers Offenbach. During his time at OFC, he played 162 games across all competitions and scored 13 goals. In the season 1981/82 Walz was with the Kickers Offenbach in the Bundesliga relegation against Bayer Leverkusen, in which he scored a goal and then seriously injured, so that he had to end his active career.

Personal

After Walz ended his active career, he dealt with sports injuries and began training as a physiotherapist. Shortly after completing his training, Walz worked for a short time as a physiotherapist on the Adler Mannheim ice hockey team. In addition to his professional career as a physiotherapist, he trained as a trainer up to the DFB-A license and trained several amateur clubs in his home country. After Walz worked in a leading position at the Rehabilitation Clinic Göttmann (Clinic for Rehabilitation and Prevention) in Reichelsheim , he opened a practice in his home country himself.
