The Bernhard-Riemann-Gymnasium is a high school in Scharnebeck . The school, together with the school at the ship lift , a secondary school , forms the Scharnebeck school center .

history

Until the 1970s, the pupils from the Scharnebeck area were accepted into the high schools of the city of Lüneburg . At the beginning of the 1970s, the city could no longer afford this due to a lack of space. On the initiative of the district council members Badekow and Moss , the plan for the construction of a new grammar school was drawn up. On July 20, 1972, the district director Harries received permission from the minister of education to set up the grammar school. The first school year began in 1972 with three classrooms and one room, which was used as the headmaster's office, secretariat, teacher and learning material room. In 1972 there were two fifth and one sixth grade, which consisted of students from the Oedeme High School . Werner Otte became the first director of the school . Otte moved to Syke High School in 1976 , followed by Harders as acting director. On May 1, 1977 Horst Heuer was appointed the new headmaster. The first Abitur was held in 1980. In 1982 there were 70 teachers at the school. In December 1985, the previous headmaster Heuer died of the consequences of a traffic accident, and provisional headmaster was StD Dinse . On August 6, 1987, Norbert Mischke was introduced as senior director of studies. The nameless grammar school was baptized on November 15, 1999 with the name Bernhard-Riemann -Gymnasium . In 2005 a lunch menu was created for the students. In 2007 the examiners of the school inspectorate demanded an increase in the level of the school. In the 2006/07 school year, 1,211 students attended the Bernhard-Riemann-Gymnasium. In 2008, the school inspectors declared that the grammar school did not currently meet the minimum requirements for school quality . This led to school boycotts from students and protests from teachers and parents calling for the director Norbert Mischke to be replaced. On June 12, 2008 the headmaster was dismissed from his position and assigned to a state authority. In 2009 the new building was inaugurated, where the biology and art rooms as well as the district library are now located. The new canteen was opened at the beginning of 2010.

In the summer of 2008, the textbook author Ingo Langhans left the Bernhard-Riemann-Gymnasium after several years of teaching and switched to the Herderschule .

Development of the number of students

The first year of school in 1972/73 consisted of a total of 66 students. The number rose to 205 in the following year, 27 of them in 7th grade. The first 11th grade was in the 1977/78 school year. 33 students attended the 11th grade, out of a total of 230 students. In the 1979/1980 school year, the school had its highest attendance for the time being with 941 students. In the following years the number of pupils fell, in 1994/1996 to 538 pupils, and did not increase continuously until 1997/98.
