Bernhard Barta (* 1974 in Linz ) is an Austrian author of crime and non-fiction books .

Life

Bernhard Barta studied art history and art education and received his doctorate from the University of Salzburg . He began his journalistic career in 1999 as an art critic for Oberösterreichische Nachrichten . Until 2003 he earned his money in advertising, among others at the Kunsthaus Wien and the Lentos Art Museum Linz . Barta taught at the Academy of Media Design and Advertising and curated art exhibitions before deciding to write books. His historical travel guides, biographies and stories from the nobility and society have been translated into several languages. "Sissis Tod", a crime novel about police officer Gustl Brandner set in the Salzkammergut, has been in first place in the Austrian book trade (paperback crime / thriller / science fiction) and top positions in all bestseller lists for months since August 2013. Barta is a member of the Concordia press club . He lives in Vienna and in the Salzkammergut .
