Bernhard Durst
Bernhard Durst OSB (born November 8, 1882 in Mergentheim , † April 27, 1966 in Neresheim ) was abbot of the Neresheim monastery and abbot praeses of the Beuron congregation .
Life
Bernhard Durst entered the Benedictine Abbey of Beuron and made his profession on February 10, 1903 . He was ordained a priest on September 22, 1907. After studying in Rome and working as a lecturer in dogmatics in Beuron, his abbot appointed him prior of the Neresheim Abbey, which was re-established in 1920.
On August 19, 1921 he was elected first abbot of Neresheim by the convention. The benediction took place on September 8, 1921 by Paul Wilhelm von Keppler . On July 25, 1965, he resigned his position. From 1948 on he headed the Beuron Congregation as Abbot Praeses for twelve years .
