Johannes Kraus

Johannes Kraus (born January 23, 1893 in Büdesheim , † June 18, 1969 in Mainz ) was a German theologian and priest.

Life

From 1912 to 1916 he studied at the seminary in Mainz and at the University of Friborg (1924–1925 / 1926–1927) scholastic philosophy and historical auxiliary sciences and at the University of Munich (1925–1926). From 1926 to 1927 he was a lecturer at the seminary in Mainz. After receiving his doctorate in Freiburg im Üechtland in 1927, he was an assistant at the Mainz seminary from 1927 to 1930. After his habilitation in 1930 at the University of Friborg, he was professor at the seminary in Mainz for the history of religion, philosophy of religion and fundamental theology from 1931 to 1938 and professor there for moral theology and ethics from 1938 to 1946. From 1946 to 1961 he taught as a professor of moral theology and ethics at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Mainz .
