Bernhard Goodwin

Bernard Goodwin (* 1979 in Stuttgart ) is a German actor , communication scientist and SPD - politician . He gained particular fame through his role as Prof. Dr. Bernhard Birnbaum in Walulis is watching TV .

Life

Bernhard Goodwin was born in 1979 in Stuttgart as the son of an American and a South African .

According to his own statements, he was involved in refugee aid during his community service after graduating from school. Then studied communication science from 1999 to 2005 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 2005 to 2009 he was a research associate there. Since receiving his doctorate in 2011, he has been working in the Department of Media and Communication Studies. Goodwin is head of the office of the Department of Communication Studies and Media Research and works part-time as a lay judge .

Goodwin's research focuses on science communication, environmental communication, data journalism and cyberbullying.

Goodwin has also been featured regularly in various formats on Walulis' YouTube channel since 2015 . On March 1, 2018, he even moderated a whole episode in his role as Prof. Bernhard Birnbaum .

Goodwin, who has been a member of the SPD since 1995 and was press spokesman for the Munich SPD between 2014 and 2017, was chosen by his party as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency of Munich-West / Mitte for the 2017 Bundestag election in 2016 . He received 23.1% of the first votes in the election and was therefore defeated by the CSU candidate, Stephan Pilsinger . Since he did not appear on the state list, he did not move into the Bundestag.

For the local elections in 2020 , Goodwin was proposed by the SPD in Karlsfeld in the Dachau district as a candidate for the office of mayor. In the election, however, he was defeated by the incumbent Stefan Kolbe in the first ballot. In addition, he won a mandate in the local council and in the district council, but he announced that he would not accept either mandate.
