Bernhard Johannes
Bernhard Johannes (* 1846 in Munich ; † January 17, 1899 in Meran ) was a pioneer of alpine photography.
Johannes did his training in the Atelier Albert in Munich . In 1870 he created a photo documentation of the ascent of the Zugspitze . In 1878 he settled in Partenkirchen , in 1883 he went to Merano and in 1884 he moved into the now listed Villa Johannes as an apartment and “studio for portrait photography”. In 1898 he was awarded the title of kk Hof-Photographer.
After his untimely death, his widow Berta continued to run the company.
In 1980 a street in Merano was named after him.
