Bernhard Schlag (born August 23, 1950 in Aachen ) is a German psychologist and professor of traffic psychology at the TU Dresden .

Life

Schlag passed his Abitur in 1969 and began studying psychology at RWTH Aachen University in the same year , where he graduated in 1974. After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant at what was then the comprehensive university in Essen , where he received his doctorate in 1980. He then became a research assistant at the Federal Highway Research Institute in Cologne and in the 1982/83 academic year he represented the professorship for work, industrial and organizational psychology at the University of Essen. This was followed by a position as a research assistant in transport research at IFAPLAN in Cologne. From 1984 to 1989 Schlag taught as a university assistant for educational sciences, psychology and sport at the University of Essen. In 1987 he completed his habilitation and from 1990 he worked as a university lecturer, again in Essen.

With the incorporation of the former University of Transport Science into the TU Dresden as the Faculty of Transport Sciences "Friedrich List" , the professorship for transport psychology was established in 1994, to which Bernhard Schlag was appointed in the same year. The professorship is also part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences . On March 1, 2017, Tibor Petzoldt took over the professorship as Schlag's successor. As a senior professor, Schlag continues to work on research projects for his former professorship.

Services

Bernhard Schlag's work focuses on areas such as traffic safety, traffic education, ergonomics and driver assistance, as well as questions of traffic area design, obstacles to the use of individual modes of transport and the acceptance of road user charges. Above all, in the sense of interdisciplinary work, these establish the transition to engineering and transport economics issues.

Schlag is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and is active in other scientific bodies.
