Bernhard Steinhauf

Bernhard Steinhauf (born January 14, 1959 in Frankfurt am Main ; † February 14, 2014 ) was a German Roman Catholic church historian .

Steinhauf studied history and theology at the universities of Berlin , Munich and Bamberg . In 1989 he was at the University of Bamberg with a thesis on Giovanni Ludovico Madruzzo Dr. theol. PhD . In 1990 he became a research assistant at the chair for Patrology and Church History in the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Bamberg. In 1997 he completed his habilitation there in the subject of church history in the Middle Ages and modern times. In the 2002/03 winter semester he applied unsuccessfully for the professorship for church history at the University of Frankfurt a. M. (successor to Hubert Wolf ).

He was married to the senior teacher Susanne Steinhauf, with whom he had two children, and lived in Bamberg .
