Bernhard Zickendraht
Bernhard Zickendraht (born April 14, 1854 in Bad Hersfeld , † April 25, 1937 in Berlin ) was a Berlin portrait and genre painter.
Bernhard Zickendraht began his studies at the art academy in Kassel , where he received the large silver medal, and continued at the academies in Berlin and Paris .
After graduation, he settled in Berlin, where he soon became known as a portrait and genre painter. In the period from 1883 to 1910 he exhibited his works at the exhibitions of the Berlin Academy, where he was appointed professor.
Kid wire portrayed & a. Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (1932, Cecilienhof ) and Baron Karl Ludwig von Biedenweg (1916, Lippisches Landesmuseum ). He portrayed the film actress Pola Negri in 1922, even before her American career began.
His portraits of lovely young ladies earned him wide popularity and appeared in print in the form of postcards. Many of Zickendraht's works came into the United States' art collections .
