The Burghammer or Bernsteinsee ( Upper Sorbian Jantarowy jězor ) is a lake south of Burghammer near Hoyerswerda in Upper Lusatia ( Saxony ). It is the remaining hole of the charred Burghammer opencast mine , which was flooded from July 1997 to 2006. The lake has the function of a water management storage basin.
The lake is connected to the Lohsa II reservoir and other lakes. The inlet comes from Lohsa II, the water drains into the Kleine Spree .

The Bernsteinsee is part of the Lusatian Lake District and should be used for recreational purposes. Entering the banks and using the lake is prohibited due to possible landslides. After the river bank is still to be densified, it will serve gentle tourism. Two local beach areas are planned near Burghammer and Burg with sunbathing areas, sanitary facilities, boat docks, sports facilities and restaurants. Water sports should be reserved for sailors and rowers, motor boats will not be allowed.
