The origins of the corporate group go back to the sole proprietorship that Karl Berrang and his wife Elisabeth founded in 1946 for wholesale and foreign trade with fasteners such as screws and nuts. This was entered in the Mannheim Commercial Register in 1948. In 1952 the first branch was founded in Munich, which was followed by others. With the death of Karl Berrang in 1961, Elisabeth Berrang initially continued to run the business on her own until their son, Bernhard Berrang, joined the management ten years later. In 1981 his brother-in-law Peter Hofmann joined the company, who was appointed as a further managing director in 1995. In 1994 Elisabeth Berrang left the active business. In 1997, with the establishment of the subsidiary in the USA, the internationalization and thus the development of today's Berrang Group began. Today the Berrang Group employs over 500 people at 12 locations, 8 of them in Germany.

The Berrang Group has been family-run for 3 generations. The management consists of Bernhard Berrang, Peter Hofmann, Dominique Gründler, Benjamin Berrang and Paul Hofmann.

The headquarters were later relocated from Mannheim-Mallau to the 52,000 square meter site in Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld. On the new site, investments were made, among other things, in a new office building and a fully automated high-bay pallet rack and small parts warehouse.
