Coordinates: 34 ° 17 ′  S , 140 ° 36 ′  E The District Council of Berri Barmera is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 508 km² and has about 10,000 inhabitants (2016).

Berri Barmera is located in the east of South Australia on the northern edge of the Murray Lands near the border with Victoria about 200 km east of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes eight hamlets and villages: Barmera, Berri , Cobdogla, Glossop, Loveday, Monash, Overland Corner and Winkie. The administrative headquarters of the council is in Berri in the east of the LGA on the Murray River , where about 4,000 inhabitants live (2016).

The Berri Barmera council has eleven members, the ten councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Berri Barmera is not divided into districts.
