Bert André

Hubertus Antonius Gerardus Maria André (born August 6, 1941 in Maastricht ; † May 21, 2008 in Antwerp ) was a Dutch actor who initially began his career in the theater and became known to a wide audience through his film and television appearances.

Life

André played roles in classic plays such as Shakespeare , Harold Pinter , Tsjechov and Samuel Beckett . He mainly took on roles in the second row, but also played leading roles such as the z. B. Bauer in the play Het gezin van Paemel (The family van Paemel, 1902) by Cyriel Buysse . (Here he consciously tried not to speak East Flemish that he did not speak.)

André was known for his cautious way of speaking and his rather soft-sounding voice. This predestined him u. a. for the monologues in The Double Bass by Patrick Süskind .

André became known in particular through the role of the neighbor 'Neuteboom' in the first and second films and the subsequent television series about the Flodder family . In addition to the Flodder episodes, he played in 150 other films and Belgian television series such as FC De Kampioenen . He played his last role as a funeral director in the movie Killer Babes .

He played in such theaters as Antwerp KNS, Groot Limburgs Toneel, the International Nieuwe Scène, Arca and finally at the Brussels City Theater.

At the beginning of 2007, Andrés health deteriorated due to chronic leukemia. He died of a stroke in an Antwerp hospital at the age of 66.

He was married to the actress Mieke Verheyden , the Flemish actress Sandrine André is his daughter. He was related to the actor Bernard Verheyden .
