Bert Appermont (born December 27, 1973 in Bilzen , Belgium ) is a Belgian composer and conductor. He also writes under the pseudonym "Robert Finn".

Life

Appermont studied fugue theory , orchestral and wind orchestra conducting with Jan Hadermann , Edmond Saveniers and Jan Van der Roost at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. In 1998 he completed his studies with a diploma at the institute. With further studies at Bournemouth Media School, he earned a Master of Music Design for Film & Television in the UK to improve his composition skills for musicals, film and television.

Appermont was a teacher at the music school in Beverst and the music high school in Hasselt . He currently holds lectures at the “Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg” and teaches at the music schools in Lanaken and Genk.

As a composer, he has previously written commissioned works for wind orchestra, symphony orchestra, choir and chamber music as well as two musicals. He belongs to a new generation of Belgian composers around Jan Van der Roost . Inspired by Johan de Meij (Symphony No. 1 “The Lord of the Rings”) and Philip Sparke (Dance Movements), he composed a programmatic symphony for symphonic wind orchestra (expanded to include harp and piano).
