The Bertha Beach is a beach of volcanic sand and gravel on the west side of the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It lies between Erratic Point and the western foothills of the Vahsel Glacier on the shores of South West Bay .
Namesake is the American sealer Bertha from New Bedford , Massachusetts , who operated in the waters around Heard in 1907.
