Berthold Schneider (doctor)

Berthold Schneider (born August 14, 1952 ) is a German surgeon and university professor .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1972, Schneider studied medicine at the University of Bonn from 1972 to 1978 . In 1978 he received his doctorate. From 1979 he completed his specialist medical training at the Surgical University Clinic in Bonn . In 1984 he was qualified as a specialist in surgery, and in 1986 in trauma surgery . Finally, Schneider completed his habilitation in 1987 on the subject of studies on the pathogenesis of esophageal variceal rupture in portal hypertension and its treatment (habilitation thesis). Since 1990 he has been chief surgeon at the St. Marien Hospital in Bonn and since 2011 also at the St. Josef Hospital in Beuel . In 1995 he received the title of specialist in visceral surgery . Schneider has been an adjunct professor at the University of Bonn since 1996 . He was also medical director of the St. Marien Hospital in Bonn from 2001 to 2016.

In addition, Schneider is chairman of the association of the Academic Art Museum of the University of Bonn.
