Bertil Bouillon

Bertil Bouillon (born March 10, 1958 in Frankfurt / Main ) is a German orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon . He is director of the Clinic for Orthopedics, Trauma Surgery and Sports Traumatology at the Cologne-Merheim Clinic and was President of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) and Deputy President of the German Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU) in 2014 .

Life

Bertil Bouillon studied human medicine from 1976 to 1982 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , where he received his doctorate in 1982 . From 1984 to 1986 he was an assistant doctor at the second surgical chair at the University of Cologne. This was followed by a one-year stay abroad at McGill University in Montreal / Canada. There he obtained a diploma in epidemiology and biostatistics . Afterwards he was an assistant doctor from 1987, from 1996 senior physician, completed his habilitation in 1998 and from 2001 was senior physician at the II. Surgical chair at the University of Cologne . Since 2004 Bouillon has been director of the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics and Sports Traumatology at the Cologne-Merheim Clinic. In the same year Bouillon was appointed to the chair for trauma surgery / orthopedics at the University of Witten / Herdecke . From 2005 to 2010 he was vice dean for teaching and research, since then he has been coordinator for teaching and research at the University of Witten / Herdecke.

Bertil Bouillon’s main research areas are multiple trauma care, fracture care, sports traumatology , tendon and muscle injuries and work-related accidents. He also deals with the trauma register of the German Society for Trauma Surgery , quality of life after trauma and coagulation disorders after trauma and sports injuries.

Functions / memberships

Bertil Bouillon has been a member of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) since 1990, where he was treasurer from 2009, vice president in 2012 and 2013 and president in 2014. He is Deputy Chairman of the Professional Association of German Surgeons North Rhine (BDC-North Rhine), seminar leader at the German Society for Ultrasound (DEGUM) and in the ATLS © Board Germany .

Bouillon is a member of the German Society for Surgery (DGCh), the working group of emergency doctors in North Rhine-Westphalia (AGNNW), the NIS section of the DGU (emergency, intensive care and care for the severely injured), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) and the Professional Association of German Surgeons (BDC).
