Life

Bertin Quentin, a brother of the violinist Jean-Baptiste Quentin called le jeune (the younger), began his career as a violinist at the Académie Royale de Musique (the later Paris Opera ). In 1713, after playing in the grand chœur , he was given a seat on the second desk of the first violinist, just behind Michel-Richard Delalande . After the departure of a certain Jacques Buret, he bought his position as Basse de Violon in 1720 in the orchestra of the Vingt-quatre Violons du Roy . In 1749 he took his pension and retired to Ermont. At the end of 1764 his name was deleted from the académie royale's pension list.

Bertin Quentin published a collection of sonatas for violin or flute, 10 sonates pour le Violon seul et pour la Flûte avec la Basse continue , which were available from the author ( en vente chez l'auteur rue St. Martin vis à vis la fontaine maubué ).
