Bertram Koch

Bertram Koch (born May 15, 1963 in Darmstadt ) is a former German national basketball player . The 1.95-meter-tall winger made 36 full international appearances.

career

As a youth, Koch played basketball in his native Darmstadt and developed into a junior national player. For the 1982/83 season he moved from Darmstadt to TV Langen , and in 1985 he was promoted to the basketball league with the TVL . Even in Germany's top division, he was a key player in the Langen team and played his first international match for the German senior team in November 1985.

In the 1986/87 season, Koch played and studied at Eckerd College in the US state of Florida , before playing again for Langen in the Bundesliga in the 1987/88 season. In 1987 he took part in the Universiade in Zagreb with the German national student team.

In 1988, Koch moved to Steiner Bayreuth and won the German championship and the DBB Cup with the team during the 1988/89 season. During his time in Bayreuth, Koch also played against NBA star Michael Jordan . In 1989 Koch won bronze with the German national student team at the Universiade in Duisburg .

In the further course of his career Koch played for BG Ludwigsburg until 1999, in the Bundesliga until 1997, then in the second division. In the first division he scored a total of 3670 points during his career.
