Bertrand Weber

Bertrand Weber (born March 15, 1858 in Menziken ; † October 3, 1945 there , authorized to live there ) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Family and education

Bertrand Weber, son of the owner of the cigar and tobacco factory S. Weber & Söhne , the leading tobacco company at the time in the Wynen and Seetal , Johann Jakob Weber and his wife Maria Anna née Merz, completed an apprenticeship on his father's side after attending school in Menziken and Reinach AG Business.

In 1886 Bertrand Weber married Emilie, the daughter of the businessman Simon Weber. Weber died in autumn 1945 at the age of 87 in his home town of Menziken.

Professional background

After Weber had stayed in Italy and Egypt after completing his apprenticeship , he joined his parents' company as a partner in 1893 , and in 1904 he was appointed commercial director. After the company was converted into a stock corporation in 1917, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, a position he held until 1945.

Bertrand Weber, who last held the rank of infantry captain in the military , also emerged as a sponsor of the asylum in Menziken and as an art collector in the last decades of his life .
