Bertrand de Thessy
Bertrand de Thessy (also Bertrand de Texi or Bertiandus Texius ; † around 1231) was the 15th Grand Master of the Order of St. John from 1228 to 1231 .
He provided formal cover for the crusade of Frederick II , as Emperor Frederick could not actually lead the crusade because he was banned . Jerusalem was won back through negotiations during this crusade. Frederick II then transferred the administration of the city fortress of Akkon to the Order of St. John, the alternative name of Akkon, which has been used since then, “St. Jean d'Acre ”points out this fact.
He was last mentioned in October 1231 and probably died a little later.
