Anuanurunga is a small, uninhabited atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean . Administratively, it belongs to French Polynesia and is part of the Hao municipality .
Anuanurunga is 25 km southeast of the neighboring atoll Anuanuraro and 30 km northwest of the Nukutepipi atoll . Together, the three atolls make up the Îles du Duc de Gloucester group . It is a slightly elliptical atoll with a largely closed fringing reef , on which only a few small motus rest. The land area is around 7 km², that of the lagoon around 2.6 km².
The atoll was discovered by Philipp Carteret in 1767. He named the atoll "Four Crowns" (four crowns) .
