Map of Héréhérétué |
Héréhérétué (also Hereheretue ) is an atoll in the Pacific Ocean that belongs to French Polynesia . It consists of about 40 islets ( motus ) that surround a central lagoon . Héréhérétué is the northernmost atoll of the Îles du Duc de Gloucester in the Tuamotu Archipelago . The next neighboring island of Anuanuraro is 150 km away. Administratively, the atoll belongs to the municipality of Hao .
You can count at least 60 individual islands ( motus ) on detailed maps .
The largest motu is in the southeast, but most of the inhabitants live on the westernmost motu. There is with Otetou the only permanently inhabited settlement of the Duke of Gloucester Islands.
