Nengonengo is an atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia . It is 42 kilometers southeast of Ravahere . The bell shape of the atoll is 13 km long and 8 km wide. The atoll's lagoon has no navigable access to the sea. Administratively, Nengonengo belongs to the Hao municipality .
history
The atoll was first sighted by Samuel Wallis in 1767 . He named the atoll Prince William Henry .
A small airfield was opened in 1993. It is owned by Robert Wan's company , an international pearl merchant .
