Bet Island , also known as Bet Islet , is an Australian island in the center of the Torres Strait Islands archipelago . It is located in the north of the island group The Three Sisters and is about 6.3 km from Sue Island , the only inhabited island of the "Three Sisters".
Bet Island with a land area of almost 17.7 hectares is bordered by a dense, 13 km long and up to 3 km wide coral reef ( Bet Islet Reef ) with an area of 28.7 km². Bet except that lies entirely in the West, is located in the reef nor the small island Vin Islet , 10 ° 9 ' S , 142 ° 55' O on the eastern Riffkranz, with an area of one hectare.
Administratively, Bet Island (along with Vin Islet) is one of the Central Islands , an island region in the Torres Shire administrative district of Queensland .
