Betamotor SpA is an Italian manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters . His focus is on trial and enduro sports . The company's headquarters are in Rignano sull'Arno . The manufactory is the third oldest producing brand in the motorcycle industry.

history

founding

The company was founded in Florence in 1904 under the name Società Giuseppe Bianchi and at that time produced bicycles by hand.

As part of the modernization of the company in 1940, the company name in BETA renamed (from the initials of its two founders - was B ianchi, E nzo and T osi, A rrigo) and began single-cylinder two-stroke engines in the on-site bicycle frame to mount. This is how the first motorcycles left the factory.

In the 1960s, Beta began developing and producing its own engines, which are still used today in its own motorcycles and scooters. In the beginning, these were single-cylinder two-stroke engines. It was not until later that four-stroke engines were also developed , but remained true to the concept of the single cylinder.

New headquarters

In 1972 Beta moved its headquarters to Rignano sull'Arno and since then has mainly produced small motorcycles , light motorcycles , hard enduro bikes and trial motorcycles .

Since 2002 Beta has also been producing motorcycles for everyday road use with the Jonathan 350 , Euro 350 and Alp 200 models . Beta buys the single-cylinder unit of the 350 models from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki . At the end of 2003, the manufacturer expanded its portfolio to include the Alp 4.0 and Motard 4.0 models , which, like Jonathan and Euro, are based on the single cylinder of the Suzuki DR 350. Beta also manufactures 50 cc and 125 cc enduros and supermotos powered by Yamaha motors from Minarelli .

Model history

Since 2010, Beta has been installing RR 4T four-stroke engines from its own development and production in the enduro models .

In 2011 a 350 cc RR 4T was added to the product range. The frame of the RR models has been painted in red since this model year as a reminiscence of the beta- enduro models of the 1970s.

In 2012, the displacement of the machines was adjusted for the first time, so the RR 520 4T became the RR 498 4T. The design of the machines was generally adapted, the front lamp mask was changed, as well as the bracket for the front fender. In addition, the frame was completely renewed with swing tubes with a diameter of 28 mm, previously it was 25 mm. A new rear silencer was also installed, which guarantees an increase in performance in the entire area of application. One of the biggest innovations of the year of construction is the new 48 mm upside-down telescopic fork from the Sachs brand with TFX-System (TwinFlux Technology-Systems), which was developed exclusively for Beta. In addition, the factory versions of this year of construction of the RR were fitted with a different Arrow brand exhaust system.

In 2013 the RR 250 2T and RR 300 2T models (2T means two-stroke engine ) were added to the company's sales.
