Beth Anderson

Beth Anderson (born January 3, 1950 in Lexington , Kentucky ) is an American composer.

Anderson studied piano with Margie Murphy and Helen Lipscomb at the University of Kentucky , Mills College, and UC Davis . Her teachers included John Cage , Terry Riley , Robert Ashley , Larry Austin . Kenneth Wright , John Barnes Chance , Nathan Rubin , Naomi Sparrow , Bernard Abramovitch and Nathaniel Patch . She lives in Brooklyn and teaches at Greenwich House Music School .

She is a member of Broadcast Musicians Inc. (BMI) , the American Composers' Forum , the International Alliance of Women in Music , the American Music Center, and the American Composers Alliance, and treasurer of the New York Women Composers . Anderson composed orchestral works, chamber music, an opera, an operetta, an oratorio, choral works, songs and electroacoustic works.
