The company health insurance fund Phoenix ( BKK Phoenix ) was a company health insurance fund based in Hamburg and freely selectable for all persons who were employed or lived in the regions of Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia or Thuringia.
history
BKK Phoenix was founded in 1856 as a company health insurance fund for Phoenix AG . After more than 150 years, the fund was closed on June 30, 2014. Since January 1, 2014, the Chairman of the Board of Novitas BKK , Ernst Butz, has also been Chairman of the Board of Management of BKK Phoenix. The merger of the two cash registers took place on July 1, 2014.
For those insured at the BKK Phoenix, the merger represented a change in health insurance. However, there was no special right of termination. The normal legal regulations apply: Membership can only be terminated with a notice period of 2 months to the end of the month. In the opinion of consumer advocates, these are procedures that do not allow the insured's statutory right to choose. The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds recommends asking the previous health insurance company whether benefits will no longer apply as a result of the merger.
Contribution rates
Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been uniformly stipulated by the legislature. From January 1, 2010 to March 31, 2012, an additional cash contribution of 8.00 euros was levied.
