Better Than A Thousand was a hardcore band with members from New York and Washington , consisting of Ray Cappo (former singer of Youth of Today ) Graham Land and Ken Olden , who played in the band Battery . It was a side project of the band Shelter . Ray initially only intended to record a few songs with friends, but this grew into two albums and three world tours. In terms of sound, the band was based on Youth of Today, but had a more modern sound. After the release of their second album and a subsequent world tour, the band broke up in 1999.
