Bettina Ernst

Bettina Ernst (born December 14, 1968 in Rapperswil ) is a former Swiss gymnast , multiple Swiss champion and triathlete .

Career

Bettina Ernst was active in artistic gymnastics and was part of the Swiss national team at the age of 14. In 1984 she started in Los Angeles in gymnastics at the Olympic Games. She finished 51st in the all-around competition and eighth with the team. In 1983 and 1985 she started at the World Championships in Budapest and Montreal and in 1985 Bettina Ernst also took part in the European Championships in Helsinki. She is nine times Swiss champion in artistic gymnastics.

After ten years of artistic gymnastics, Bettina Ernst switched to triathlon. In 1996 she started the long-distance triathlon at Ironman Hawaii (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running), finished 18th overall and she was able to win the age group of 25 to 30 year olds. In 1998 she was able to repeat this success again.

Today Bettina Ernst works as a natural scientist in immunology .
