The beggar stone is a large granite slab stuck diagonally in the earth. The distance to the ground is about three meters at the highest point. In the opposite direction there is a smaller second stone, which is also placed at an angle.

There are other smaller menhirs in the vicinity of the beggar's stone. The Erdmannlistein is about 350 meters north .

The name is supposed to be derived from the fact that beggars, outcasts and travelers used to lie down under the protruding stone roof and seek protection.

Access

The Bettlerstein can be reached via hiking trails or from the “Erdmannlistein” stop on the Bremgarten-Dietikon railway, around 500 meters away . Access with motor vehicles is not possible.
