Erdmannlistein

As Erdmannlistein a group of boulders in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland called. These are erratic granite blocks from the Reuss Glacier . They are located in the area of the municipality of Wohlen just on the border with Bremgarten on a moraine wall of the Wagenrain , between peat moss and the Erdmannlistein train station at an altitude of 457  m above sea level. M.

situation

The rock formation consists of two approximately five meter high boulders on which a third, larger block lies. Presumably, the boulders have sunk partially into the forest floor due to their own weight (around 60 tons). They consist of white, granite and gneishaltigem were during the Würm by the Reuss glacier from the Aar Massif in the Central Plateau transported. The Erdmannlistein blocks are among the largest preserved erratics in the area. With the other boulders they show a noticeable accumulation. A purely random arrangement of the boulders cannot be ruled out. However, it is believed that they were layered on top of one another by human hands or even transported to this location. There are assumptions that the arrangement could be a prehistoric cultural site that could have served as a fixed point in a calendar system, for example. Numerous smaller, menhir-like stones in the area, which are in a corresponding position on an area of around 1 km², support this theory.

The Bettlerstein is located about 350 meters south of the Erdmannlistein .
