A bedside rug is a rug or mat that is placed in front of the bed. On the bedroom floor , which is usually unheated , it keeps your feet warm when you get up and when you dress and undress. Bed rugs are home textiles , they are available in different materials and different colors and shapes.

material

Bed rugs can be made from a wide variety of materials, including:

Depending on the material, bed rugs can be machine-made or hand-made, the production is no different from that of a carpet. Like carpets, they can also be provided with patterns, other motifs or as advertising objects with company logos. They are available in a flame-retardant version and then comply with DIN 4102, some bed rugs are offered as specially suitable for underfloor heating .

Because of their small size, bed rugs are prone to slipping and are therefore often coated on the back. Anti-slip mats or anti-slip carpet tapes also prevent the bedside rug from slipping.

Dust mite problems

The bedroom, especially mattresses , is one of the main habitats for house dust mites . Smooth floors and long-pile floors in the bedroom are also good habitats for mites and bad for allergy sufferers . Because a lot of time is spent in the bedroom, allergy sufferers are advised to pay particular attention to freedom from dust and mites. Short-pile carpets and bed rugs are therefore recommended for the floor. These should be vacuumed regularly, hung in the dry and cold air possible and washed at at least 60 degrees.

Various seals of approval mark a bed rugs that are free of harmful substances.
