Betun is an Indonesian town in the south of the island of Timor .

Betun is the capital of the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Malaka in the province of East Nusa Tenggara , which has been in existence since 2012 . Before that, Betun belonged to the Belu administrative district . Betun is also the capital of the district ( Kecamatan ) of Central Malaka ( Malaka Tengah ).
