Beverly Dale Smith is an American singer-songwriter and old-time musician ( fiddle , banjo , mandolin and guitar ).

Smith founded The Heartbeat Rhythm Quartet with June Drucker , Rose Sinclair and Tara Nevins in the late 1980s , with which three albums were created. With Bruce Molsky and Rafe Stefanini she appeared in the group Big Hoedown (1997 album) in Europe. She became known through recordings of early country duets with Carl Jones (from 2002), Alice Gerrard and John Grimm . She formed The Rockingham with Stefanini, John Herrmann and Meredith McIntosh , and the Smith Allen Peterson Power-House Old-Time Trio with Kellie Allen and Pete Peterson . As a guitarist she accompanied the fiddlers Stefanini and Molsky as well as Tara Nevins and Matt Brown , as a singer she appeared with Mick Moloney , John Doyle and Laurie Lewis, among others . Recordings were also made with musicians such as Rose Sinclair, Rafe Stefanini, Paul Brown , Laurie Lewis, Art Rosenbaum , Jason Cade and Rob McMaken .

Smith toured the US and the UK and performed at folk festivals across Europe, Canada and the US. She also taught guitar, fiddle, singing and dance at events such as Ashokan Southern Week , Augusta Heritage , Blue Ridge Old-Time Music Week , Festival of American Fiddle Tunes and La Fuente del Musica in Spain.
