Parenzo district

The Parenzo district ( Italian : capitanato distrettuale Parenzo ; Slovenian : okrajni glavarstvo Poreč ; Croatian : kotarsko satničtvo Poreč ) was a political district created by the Habsburg Monarchy in western Istria . District capital was the municipality Parenzo ( Poreč ).

The area was named after the First World War, the Kingdom of Italy slammed after 1947 it was used by Yugoslavia annexed and since 1991 has been part of Croatia .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created around 1868 in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration. The Parenzo district was created in 1868 from the three judicial districts Parenzo ( Poreč ), Montona ( Motovun ) and Buje .

39,460 people lived in the Parenzo district in 1869, and by 1910 the population had increased to 61,358 people. In 1910, 41,276 of the population stated Italian (67.3%) as the colloquial language, 17,034 people spoke Croatian (27.8%), 1,962 Slovenian (4.8%) and 75 German (0.1%). The district last comprised an area of ​​792.97 km² and three judicial districts with a total of eleven municipalities.
