Veglia district

The district of Veglia ( Italian capitanato distrettuale di Veglia ; Slovenian okrajni glavarstvo Krk ; Croatian kotarsko satničtvo Krk ) was a political district in the margravate of Istria . The district included the island of Krk ( Veglia ). The seat of the district administration was the municipality of Krk ( Veglia ).

The area was added to Yugoslavia after the First World War under the Treaty of Saint-Germain in 1919 and has been part of Croatia since 1991 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created around 1868 in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration.

The later Veglia district was initially part of the Lussin district , which was created in 1868 from the three judicial districts Cherso ( Cres ), Lussin ( Lošinj ) and Veglia ( Krk ).

On December 1, 1905, the judicial district of Veglia was split off from the Lussin district and raised to become an independent district.

In 1910 there were 21,259 people in the Veglia district. 19,533 of the population stated Croatian (91.9%) as a colloquial language in 1910, 1,544 people spoke Italian (7.3%), 25 German (0.1%) and 29 Slovenian (0.1%). The district last covered an area of ​​428.45 km² or a judicial district with seven parishes.
