Lussin district

The district of Lussin ( Italian : capitanato distrettuale Lussin ; Slovenian : okrajni glavarstvo Lošinj ; Croatian : kotarsko satničtvo Lošinj ) was a political district in the margraviate of Istria . The district included the islands of Lošinj (Italian: Lussin ), Cres ( Cherso ) and, until 1905, the island of Krk ( Veglia ). The seat of the district administration was the municipality of Lussin ( Lošinj ).

The area was named after the First World War, the Kingdom of Italy slammed after 1947 it was used by Yugoslavia annexed and since 1991 has been part of Croatia .

history

The modern political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created around 1868 in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration. The Lussin district was created in 1868 from the three judicial districts Cherso ( Cres ), Lussin ( Lošinj ) and Veglia ( Krk ).

The judicial district of Veglia was separated from the Lussin district on December 1, 1905 and raised to a separate district. In 1869 there were 35,917 people living in the Lussin district, with the separation of the Veglia judicial district in 1905, the population fell to 21,260 by 1910. Of these, 9,997 cited Croatian (47.0%) as a colloquial language, 9,884 people spoke Italian (46.5%), 422 German (2.0%) and 97 Slovenian (0.5%). The district last comprised an area of ​​511.21 km² and two judicial districts with a total of four municipalities.
