The biali (also called berba, bieri, bjerb, bjeri and burba ; ISO 639-3: beh) is a Gur language from the Niger-Congo language family , which is spoken by a total of 66,000 people in Benin and Burkina Faso .

The language is mainly spoken in the Beninese province of Atakora (64,500; as of 1991), as well as by a small group of 1,500 speakers in Burkina Faso (1991) along the Beninese border, in the provinces of Tapoa and Gurma .

The language is called 'Biali' or 'Bieri' and is spoken by the nation of ' Bialaba '. With four other languages, the language belongs to the group of Eastern Oti-Volta languages . It has several dialects, these are: dassari, gouande, materi, pingou, tihoun, tangeta and porga. Together with the Baatonum [bba] or Berba language, the language also forms the Gur language group.
