Biastes truncatus is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees are 6 to 7 millimeters long. The head, thorax and legs of the females are mostly black. The mandibles and the anterior tergites are red, the posterior ones are more or less darkened. The rear margins of the second through fifth tergites have white hair spots. The vertex is flattened and rounded at the back. The labrum has a pointed tooth in the middle. The males look similar to the females, but their tergites are black on the disc. The feelers consist of only 12 sections. The middle sternites have large patches of hair. The end margins are bare on the sides.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is distributed in Central Europe north to 63 ° north latitude and east to Romania and Bulgaria. It flies in July and August. The species parasitizes Dufourea dentiventris and Dufourea inermis .
