Bibiana Aído Almagro (born February 2, 1977 in Alcalá de los Gazules ) is a Spanish politician. She was Spain’s Minister of Gender Equality from April 14, 2008 to October 20, 2010 . The Ministry of Equality was then incorporated into the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, now headed by Leire Pajín , in which Aído became State Secretary for Equality. Aído has been working for UN Women since June 2011 .

In 1993 Aído joined the PSOE youth organization JSA, and was involved in the founding of the organization's local committee in Alcalá de los Gazules. From 1994 to 1999 she studied business administration at the University of Cádiz , where she obtained a diploma. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business Administration from Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England. In 1995 she became the public relations secretary of the JSA Cádiz and a PSOE member. From 2003 to 2006 she was a member of the Andalusian Parliament in Seville . She then headed the Office for the Promotion of Flamenco in the Andalusian Ministry of Culture until 2008 .

From 2008 to 2010 she was Spain’s Minister of Gender Equality in the Zapatero II cabinet . She attracted particular attention in 2009 with her statement in a radio interview that a fetus of 13 weeks is not a human being. In 2009 and 2010, her ministry ran a hotline for men that was supposed to provide advice on issues relating to equality and domestic violence.

On July 14, 2011, she was awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Civil Law) at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, in a ceremony .
