Klaus Ludwig won the title in 1979 with a Porsche 935 K3 from Kremer

The German Racing Championship 1979 was the eighth season of the German Racing Championship (DRM).

There were 11 races in the 1st and 2nd division. The first race took place on March 11th in Zolder and the last race of the season took place on the Nürburgring on September 23rd.

Klaus Ludwig won the championship title in a Porsche 935 K3 from Kremer Racing with 215 points. Hans Heyer achieved 177 points in second place.
