In 1980, Hans Heyer drove a Lancia Beta Montecarlo built according to Group 5 regulations in the DRM

The German Racing Championship 1980 was the ninth season of the German Racing Championship (DRM).

There were 13 races in the 1st and 2nd division. The first race took place in Zolder on March 23rd and the last race of the season took place at the Hockenheimring on September 28th.

After 1975 and 1976, Hans Heyer won the DRM championship for the third time. With a Lancia Beta Montecarlo he reached 156 points at the end of the season.
