Dieter Glemser won the DRM championship in 1973

The 1973 German Racing Championship was the second season of the German Racing Championship (DRM).

Nine races were held in the 1st and 2nd divisions. The first race took place on April 29th at the Nürburgring and the last race of the season was the Sauerland hill climb on October 7th.

Two races from other international championships were also rated in the DRM. The participating drivers also received points in the DRM rating. The 1000 km race on the Nürburgring 1973 of the sports car world championship was the first additional race. The second race was organized by the European Touring Car Championship .

Dieter Glemser secured the title on a Zakspeed - Ford Escort RS 1600 with one point ahead of his brand colleague Hans Heyer on a works Ford Capri RS 2600 .
